The Very Rev. Dr. Lisa Tucker-Gray, Rector

Priest Lisa has been the spiritual leader of St. John’s since of 2013, bringing a range of gifts and experiences from both in and outside of the church. While her engaged and dynamic preaching, singing and worship leading style differentiate her, it is Priest Lisa’s effusive passion and desire to build authentic community and intentional welcome that transforms much of who we are and what we do as a community of faith. Through her dedication to teaching, groups, worship, outreach, communication, leadership development and one-on-one pastoral care and counseling, St. John’s continues to grow in spiritual depth and levels of commitment to the ministry we share.

Priest Lisa has studied, led, and taught on the subjects of congregational development and re-imagining the role of today’s church. She believes it is time for communities of faith to reclaim a prophetic purpose as a relevant and essential voice, challenge structures that divide, and garner the resources necessary to be agents of positive change. She serves as vocational faculty on the national Episcopal CREDO staff supporting the wellness in clergy at various points in their ministry.

Prior to her call to the priesthood, Priest Lisa worked as a professional musician, social worker, project manager and owned her own production company.  She currently sings outside of the church whenever possible in local clubs, cabarets and events. She earned her Masters of Divinity from Church Divinity School of the Pacific, Berkeley, CA in 2003 and her Doctorate of Ministry from Seabury Western Theological Seminary, Evanston, IL in 2010.
