Saturday Morning Men's Study Group

Becoming a member of a fellowship group provides an ideal place to grow as a disciple of Jesus and become involved in every aspect of the church’s life. It is the most effective way of enabling any individual member to grow in maturity and be actively involved in the church.

GROUPS

A “ministry” is any specific effort to serve, teach, or reach
a specific group of people.

Church ministry is important because it helps develop relationships between God's people and the church. St. John's Ministry Groups serve to connect, empower, and teach the members of the church.

Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers assist the priest by offering wine to the worshipers. Eucharistic Visitors take the consecrated elements in a timely manner following a Celebration of Holy Eucharist to members of the congregation who, by reason of illness or infirmity, could not be present at the Celebration of the Eucharist.

Lay Readers

We use lay readers to bring the word of God to the congregation by reading aloud the scriptures from the Bible. The usual format is that one Lector reads scripture from the Old Testament, then the assigned Psalm, and invites the congregation to join in the reading. A second Lector then reads from the New Testament.

Acolytes

Serving as an Acolyte in the church is a very visible and important ministry to our parish. The word "acolyte" comes from the Greek word Ako lout hos, which means a servant, follower, or companion. The acolyte assists the deacons, priests, and bishops in celebrating the liturgies.
At St. John's, acolytes help ensure that the liturgies go smoothly and assist the Clergy in celebrating the sacraments.

Altar Guild

Members prepare for services by setting out the appropriate linens and vessels, wine, water, and wafers and also maintaining and cleaning vessels and linens.

Greeters and Ushers

Whether welcoming visitors in at the entrance or providing direction and assistance in the midst of a service, our greeters and ushers extend the hospitality of St. John’s to members and visitors alike.

Coffee Hour Hosts

Each week volunteers prepare and serve coffee and treats in the Gathering after our 10 AM service

COUNTERS

Counters are responsible for talling the gifts given at the 8 and 10 AM services. They assure all gifts are recorded using accepted best practices.

TECH TEAM

The Tech Team is responsible for the Livestream broadcast of our 10 AM Sunday Service and other services throughout the year.
